Cunningham's on the move June 2018
We have a new to us 'toad'. Traded in our 2001 Honda CR-V for this Jeep Cherokee Trail Hawk, 2015 model year. We will miss the CR-V lots, but it started to scare us with transmission noises. The Trail Hawk is 'trail rated' having under carriage shielding and different snout. It has already taken us off road in Bull Dog Canyon north of Apache Junction. It did terrific, but after a day on the rocks, we were glad to get back to paved roads. Compared to the CR-V, it was much more involved to get it to be tow ready. Also is pretty involved to place it into the tow mode, so we made a cheat card to be sure to do it right. It pulls really easy though.
We enjoyed our stay in Benson visiting with brother George and wife Wilma. But it was getting pretty hot there, so off we have gone. Our first stop was unscheduled. Deming, NM isn't all that far from Benson, but we were ready to pull off. There is an SKP park there, so we spent our first night of the summer, after looking for a few Geocaches of course!
Next stopover was at KIVA RV and Horse Hotel in some podunk junction in NM. It had all we needed in amenities, and gave SKP discount. Didn't really see any horses there, but guess they are welcome!
We decided to head out to Cochiti Lake and have a look at the Hoodoos at a National Monument near there. Next blog will tell all!
